Secret lore if you read between the lines and connect the dots: Tiamat only needed the cultists to believe that her emergence would bring about a reign of dragons. In truth, the Dragon Queen sought to make contact with Mystra's Weave, which Asmodeus had no authority over. Tiamat played her hand by planeshifting herself away the moment she stuck her heads into Realmspace while leaving behind an avatar for the heroes to "defeat". Afterwards, the focus of Tiamat was to have her followers create chaos and misdirection in Avernus while she stealthily transferred her followers and treasures out of Avernus to her new divine realm on another plane. Once the transfer was complete, Tiamat considered breaking the chains of a descended Elturel as a final insult to Asmodeus just before recalling her avatar.

All hail Takhisis the Queen of Darkness. Goddess of domination, tyranny, hatred, darkness and evil dragons.

I can’t believe they never added the dragons from the completing the color wheel article in Dragon. Yellow, orange and purple were tough.
