Viking’s “hand-holding” is great, especially if you’re a bit nervous about foreign travel.

We have done 7 Viking cruises (river, ocean, and expedition), and your disembarkation was different than any of ours. We have had post cruise extensions, second follow on cruises, post cruise hotel stays, and direct to airport transfers and every time we waited on board until our allotted transfer time and disembarked directly to the transfer bus. Viking is very good at hand holding all the way and I have never felt lost or unsure at any point.

Thank you for your video and your thoughtful review. I have been on 1 Viking ocean cruise and 2 Viking river cruises, and enjoyed all of them.

A mailbox full of Viking cruise catalogs, that’s for sure.

I have never cruised. But I think I have an answer to your suggestion to Viking. If they preplanned all those details and then the details changed(!) then people are going to be walking around with their sheet trying to find what to do next! But by telling you to ask a Viking rep, they are allowing for changes to situations that probably happen as often as not in that business! Just a thought. Nice video, John T !!!

Sometimes giving people too much information at one time can actually contribute to confusion. However, I’m like you. I’d rather get all the instructions up front. If I get confused my wife can set me straight. 😊

Every port is different with their procedures with embarkation and disembarkation. New to ocean cruises and we’re going on our first Viking ocean cruise starting in Rome. Looking forward to the ship and the experiences we’re going to have. Getting off an Oceania cruise in South Korea was interesting. Complete caged walkways with a terminal employee every 2 feet all the way through passport control. Same with Japan. We always travel 2-4 days prior to embarkation and stay 2-3 days after with final night at airport hotel. We’re planning on trying out numerous cruise lines. So far Seabourn has been great, Oceania had its good and not so good excursions (Japan) a lot of complaints. Best thing I did for foreign countries was order their currency in small denominations prior to flying. Worked well for tips and shops.

Thank you for this series. Did you enjoy your first cruise enough to book another? With Viking? I love cruising but haven't yet on Viking. We do have one booked for next summer. I am excited. The ships look amazing.

Thank you for this information! We are taking our first Viking cruise in January/February. Will be sure to check out the Viking Daily onboard. We'll be crossing the Arctic Circle too so hopefully we get that cool certificate!

I have been on many cruises with varying ship sizes. Viking boats are relatively small I never felt far from anywhere on the ship let alone the two elevator banka
