  My wife and I did the Mediterranean Odyssey for our first cruise ever. &nbsp;I cannot say enough about the experience on the Viking Star. &nbsp;I watch these brawls on other lines and people fighting for a drink at the bar and I just shake my head. &nbsp;Viking is certainly not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and I think Viking is a great value for what you get. &nbsp;The quiet ship concept, the complete lack of upselling, and the competency of the service was incredible. &nbsp;<br><br>If I had to describe Viking Ocean in one word, it would be competence. &nbsp;<br><br>Not flashy, not stuffy, not exciting, not edgy or energetic. &nbsp;It&apos;s just competent at what it does and just damn good.

  Thanks for your review. &nbsp;My husband and I have done two Viking river cruises and loved both experiences. Many years ago we did two different short ocean cruises (I think Princess) and it really soured my taste for ocean cruising because it was so crowded and chaotic. &nbsp;The river cruises were perfect for us especially since my husband has physical limitations and it was the only way I could get him to go to Europe with me. &nbsp;In a few weeks we&apos;re going to take our first Viking ocean cruise on the Mediterranean. &nbsp; We&apos;re looking forward to it and hoping that it will be as lovely as our river cruises were.

  We did a 23-day Viking River cruise last year and have a 21-day ocean cruise on Viking Mars booked for early next year. &nbsp;Love their all-inclusive pricing and excursions - and we will use the silver spirits package. &nbsp;Chicken Parma is an Australian pub standard - hardly top shelf. &nbsp;For me, no kids and no casino are big plusses. &nbsp;No pressure to buy (upsell) is great,

  Thanks for the excellent video. Agree with you, while we really enjoyed the dinner we had at Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant, for us “The Restaurant” was our favorite. We also thought the buffet was VERY nice, excellent food and great service from staff who stopped by your table to see if you needed any drinks. This past August we were on the Star and the store with clothing/sunglasses/etc was selling very nice HELLY HANSEN jackets with the Viking logo.

  We have cruised 5 times so don&apos;t have the overall depth of experience others may have but we did spend a fair amount of time picking a room for our Viking Ocean Mediterranean cruise last year. We picked a Penthouse Junior Suite for the larger living space, wider veranda, the added storage, larger size bathroom and earlier access to excursions. We considered the Penthouse Veranda which (after the fact) probably would have been large enough, especially with extra dresser unit that the Deluxe Veranda room does not have. One other key difference - accessing the closet in the Deluxe Veranda may make you feel like you are slightly crowding someone who is in the side of the bed immediately adjacent to the closet, at least that&apos;s what a traveling companion told us.

  My wife and I are going on our first cruise early next year on the Journey to Antiquities for Viking. We are a younger couple and are super excited!
