  You hit it, the #1 hint for almost all cruises: you can’t control the weather but you can control your attitude. Stuff happens, don’t let it ruin your vacation (or anyone else’s).

  I have taken 19 cruises. Been to the Baltic, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, sailed through the Panama Canal, crossed the Atlantic twice, and sailed from Japan to Singapore. My favorite destination is Alaska.<br><br>You&apos;ve given excellent advice.

  If you can afford it, a balcony is a MUST when cruising Alaska.

  I live south of Seattle, and I go on 1 or 2 cruises to Alaska every year. &nbsp;From my 10 years of cruising to Alaska, I have found the pool deck &nbsp;that has cabins is the best choice due to it&apos;s ease of getting to upper decks, &nbsp;I &nbsp;almost always stay in an interior, this way I can get from my cabin to the pool/Lido or Sun decks in a minute or two and have access to see either side of ship depending on where we are. &nbsp;You are right about balconies, which have limited views and are usually twice the cost of an interior. &nbsp;Since I live in WA state, &nbsp;I&apos;m used to the cooler damp weather, and find just a warm hoodie works well for me, with an umbrella if it&apos;s raining. &nbsp;I usually go in May, when cruises are cheaper, but I have gone in August a couple of times where the weather was amazing, and needed only a light jacket. &nbsp;This year, I&apos;m cruising on MSC for their inaugural Alaska season, so I&apos;m looking forward to that cruise, since I like MSC, even though many dislike it. &nbsp;.Alaska cruises are many people&apos;s bucket list cruise, which it was for me as well, but it&apos;s so beautiful up there I go every year. &nbsp;This video is a good source for peoples first cruise, and there are many new cruisers going there, because I can tell from the blue Medallion, which indicates a person&apos;s first cruise on Princess.

  We&apos;ve been on four cruises to Alaska. It&apos;s our most favorite place to visit. So much that, when I retired, we took a two-month road trip up so we could see more. THAT was a trip of a lifetime.

  Great Video with a lot of great info, but for use I would always get a balcony room. The ship was hot when we went so being able to open the door and getting fresh air or cooling the room down was nice. we also liked being in our own space for relaxing and watching the views.

  My 1sr Alaskan cruise will be in 2027 and I&apos;m excited about absolutely everything! &nbsp;This is my next era of cruising. &nbsp;I began cruising in my 20&apos;s where it was party, party, party with 4 of us in small inside cabins, in my 40s and 50&apos;s it was shopping, city tours and on ship pampering with just 2 in a cabin. Now I&apos;m in my 60&apos;s and it will be excursion heavy, eating local fare listening to the experts and relaxing in my more deluxe cabin.

  We live in Alaska and are going on our first HAL cruise May 3 this year. Never get enough of viewing glaciers, whales and seeing new places here. We are pretty acclimated to AK weather anyway and don&apos;t mind cool or rain. And we just got upgraded from a partial obstructed balcony to a suite! A balcony is a must for us even if it was just for fresh air right off our room. Excited!

  Went on the Holland Alaskan Cruise several years ago with my wife and her family. We went in May, the weather was great, service was spectacular. Best cruise I&apos;ve ever been on!
