  Hi Hannah. There’s absolutely no excuse for dirty carpets, dead flowers and plants on the private terrace, stale snacks, wobbly handles, chipped paint, manky room menus etc in a luxury hotel. It may be a gorgeous building but you know how the saying goes- all fur coat….! I was not impressed and the summer prices are shocking for the standard. Have to add that I hate to see beautiful birds stuck in cages !! It’s a big NO from me!

  What an insult to their guests! To expect to get away with filthy surfaces, caged birds of prey, lack of any effort to personalize the experience and to charge those prices??! The owners should be called out! How horrid and sad. Why would anyone return a second time???

  Oh wow. Filthy carpet, dirty windows, broken furniture, cigarette butts in weed filled flower pots, water rings on the marble, cruelty to the birds, and no scenic walk. Not worth the money you spent. 6.8 was generous, Hannah!

  A massive no for me. Wild animals being exploited and kept in poor conditions - just no! The whole place has a really shabby vibe, and not in a chic way! Thank you for the review, though, Hannah, because now we now where NOT to go. Overpriced, underwhelming and exploitative (of both guests and captive animals).

  Speaking as an ex-hotel manager, the Housekeeping & Maintenance departments need their arse's kicked!   The cleanliness standards there are barely three star levels and certainly not good enough for the prices charged.  At the summer rate of £2500, you could afford to have a maid cleaning just four rooms each but do it perfectly.

  I follow Josie, who lives in the Cotswolds. She is frequently here, so I was excited to see you review this hotel. A parallel universe for influencers vs the common people. Soz Hannah 😔. Btw…the caged owl was enough for me to pass. What a lonely existence.

  Total money grab, not bothered with details, not bothered with cleaning properly, not bothered by  local history, not bothered to landscape grounds, not bothered to use  local brands etc etc. Just a cash cow

  So many reasons not to stay there. Dirty, inhumane treatment of birds, lack of service, lack of care, price gouging. No way.

  "Hotel staff being busy" is NOT an excuse for anything.  It's the hotel's responsibility to ensure everything is kept up to standard, especially at 5 star, if that needs more staff or staff that work harder then get them.  I found the whole place depressing, decor, furniture, food, lighting, grounds, everything, wouldn't stay there if they paid me.  Oh, and I hope they have a license for those owls otherwise it's illegal.
