You do not need to spend anywhere near the amount of money for a good quality CD player or any other audio component that will extract every ounce of digital/analogue goodness of your chosen format as you are reffereing to even on your "budget friendly" $1200 model..yes there are people out there that will spend outrageous amounts of money on components, speaker cables, Inteconnects etc for a 1% gain overall that 95% of people wont even be able to hear,..if you have $3000 cd player then you need all your other components to match quality wise and then before you know its you have spent $15000 just to listen to music, which is somethin you really do not need to do uless you have money to burn

High performance,  low cost option. Shanling ET3 CD Transport, with a Fiio K13 R2R Dac. Sounds incredible for $1000 USD total.

If a DAC, fed by a transport, needs anything special to prevent jitter then it is a very crappy DAC.  Any good DAC fills a decent sized buffer and the effective source file is in the buffer. All timing handled by the DAC.

LaserDisc players make EXCELLENT transports :) As do the Pioneer stable platter jobbies. I also use a Nail CD5/Hicap as I love the tactile process of putting a CD on. Love the fully manual drawer lol :)

You don't need a standalone DAC if your amp has a DAC. Or, you can use the integrated amp's DAC and use a CD player as a transport if you it has a digital (optical, coax) output. If it's a high quality integrated amp, like Advance Paris, a transport is a good option. No external DAC needed. It's even better than most of the Rotel CD players. You should give folks ALL their options.

The most important element is that important burn-in time for CDs. I personally use matches.

Big up Cambridge Audio for high quality at way lower price. Quality falls off rapidly as you get into this price range.
