  Fun fact!: Back when Joe was streaming during lockdowns, he confirmed that Troy had hearing difficulties that he had treatments towards the end of the series. The audio distortions are ear-piercing as Troy literally couldn't hear them, and it's why they're more tolerable right towards the end of the series. It was stated after the treatments, they played back the old distortions for Troy so he could hear how bad it really was lmao.

  Oh also, fun fact! Not only did Slender: The Eight Pages take inspiration from Marble Hornets, but the boys who made Marble Hornets also wrote some of the ideas and plot points for Slender: The Arrival!

  My headcanon regarding the Operator&apos;s origin has always been that Alex accidentally &quot;imagined&quot; him into existence.<br>On that old tape of Alex&apos;s birthday, when he blows the candles - an act often associated with making a wish - the visage of the Operator, twitching, appears for a brief moment. It is a common belief that if you blow out all the candles at once, your wish will come true.<br><br>And it sure did.<br><br>&quot;All at once! Well done, Alex.&quot;

  not only is “the operator” a scarier name than the slender man, it’s objectively better in terms of it tells you what he does. slender man is “hey, this is what this freak of nature looks like” but the operator is “we Think this is what he does…” it gives you a sense that he’s a passive antagonist. he stands by and watches, but everything that happens in the series is his doing. it’s his operation.

  So as someone who was a teenager when marble hornets was releasing their content, like experiencing that live, its not that marble hornets MAKES slenderman scary. Marble hornets MADE slenderman scary. Without marble hornets slender man would not have gotten nearly as popular as it did.

  My theory is The Operator is just a big fan of student films and is simply just watching and thinks all the death and madness is apart of the movie since they are always recording and everyone else is just losing it for no real reason.

  The operator sounds scarier than slender man because it makes you feel as if he is in control, has power. Humans are naturally intimidated by shit like that while also wanting that

  This seems like a pretty good video but I find the title REALLY funny because Marble Hornets didnt just make slender man scary. Marble Hornets <b>MADE</b> slender man. The game that made Slender popular, EIght Pages, was DIRECTLY inspired by Marble Hornets specifically. the pages, the forest, the strange run down structures, hell, even the FOUND FOOTAGE AND STATIC WHEN HE GETS CLOSE.<br>By all means, Marble Hornets is the reason Slender was even popular in the first place lol. I know you talk about this at the end, I just find the wording of the title a bit funny, thats all.

  Don&apos;t worry about the spooky ghost story that Alex told, that&apos;s a red herring. The creators Joseph and Troy later stated in a panel they regretted including that scene because it led so many people to assume that was their origin story for the Operator. It&apos;s not, the Operator&apos;s origins are shrouded in mystery and it&apos;s meant to stay that way.
