  Funny story about Slenderman - when I was like 12 I was alone listening to the Brentalfloss Slenderman song when my phone stopped loading. What it paused on was an image of a text on the phone that said "I am right behind you" sent by Slenderman. At the same time this was frozen on the screen I saw a black sleeve behind me in the reflection of my phone. I sat still, completely paralyzed with fear for over 10 minutes before I looked behind me and realized it was just a window curtain. Slenderman remains my favorite creepypasta/Internet horror entity because of this incident

  if you think about it, in some other reality slenderman ended up being an scp instead of his own thing.

  Just a reminder that Slender Man canonically exists in the Total Drama universe, appearing on a monitor in the background of episode 5 in All-Stars.

  Something I find interesting from the original mythos is that Slenderman does have a face, it just becomes distorted in photographs

  I like to headcanon that the reason slender man's powers have become so much more nebulous is because the plan to overexpose him worked so now his powers are more limited because he has been split between so many minds.

  In Slender: The Arrival, the slenderman was summoned by mistake in the late 1800's/early 1900's  when the Matheson family tried to use the occult to get a good harvest. So, in the Slender games mythos, he is a demon.

  I've always found it fascinating when people decide to take a step back from huge things, look at the original, and ask "What was the original intent before it became overblown?" It allows you to appreciate what made the original work so well and how it became popular in the first place.
