Awesome video with great information. I live in Peru, and my wife and I bought a 1000m2 plot in the high jungle. Our house is about complete, so will move into it in about a month or two. Can't wait to get the forest garden churning! We have wild bananas growing around us, so will transplant a couple pups. Thanks for the video!

Nice work.<br>Its still winter in Botswana. My bananas were affected badly by a really cold snap last month, but they survived. I am waiting for the spring to come so they wake up and start growing again. The next season will be their 2nd year so I expect them to produce fruits. Right now I am packing a lot of compost and some companion plants around them to help them grow as quickly as possible when they are ready.

I find the flower to help for me checking in the banana rack, the flower petals drop on the ground and it’s easier for me to pay attention to the flower than the rack

What do you use for fertilizer and when?

Personally I would try not to pull the leaves all the way down to the base. When you do that it strips a layer off of the stem making it thinner and more susceptible to toppling over.

It might be better to take the pups first, then only lay the leaves down once.

I grew up in San Diego c. 1950. Banana's don't grow fruit. I have seen some little tiny ones. I've seen frost kill the trees. So buy a big electric heater and keep it ready. According to some folks the earth is heating up, But not enough to grow banana's in Diego.
