  The fact that the floppy disk is used as an image icon for storage on various operating systems tells you that they were very important to store files despite their small size.

  the FAA uses Floppys today but its currently being phased out. It&apos;s how some airports in the USA upgrade their systems within the air traffic control towers. It became well known after a couple aircraft collision in 2024 and 2025 and after the air traffic controller shortage became more publicized once the US government announced mandatory furloughing under the current presidential admin.
