  A good tip I heard (and in my case it&apos;s taken a lot of discipline and editing to get this right) is not to put any words in the verses that you are going to use in the hook or chorus. So if your hook includes &apos;small town&apos;, you don&apos;t put &apos;small town&apos; in the verse, to preserve the impact when it comes.

  I&apos;ve heard it stated, &quot;great songs are NOT written, they are rewritten&quot;. The same thing but reversing the order.

  Thanks for saying &quot;often&quot; and not &quot;oftentimes&quot; LOL !!! &nbsp; &nbsp;You know, a lot of us out here (on this side of the screen) have originals that we (perhaps naively) think are worthy of airplay. What I enjoy doing is watching your videos and using all the amazing points you bring up to gut-check my own songs. On average, I tick about 80% &quot;yep, got that&quot; on my originals - which doesn&apos;t really help me improve. The real VALUE I find in your videos is not &quot;confirmation&quot; but rather helping me identifying that final, hard-to-handle 20% that gets obscured by myopic thinking. Very grateful for your channel and all you guys bring to the table. 👍

  Jimmy Webb has a song called &quot;Parenthesis&quot;. That word is the last word of the song and it&apos;s only used once for weight/importance/significance. And there is no chorus to speak of. The first line is &quot;Another draggy week behind me&quot; and 20 lines later he says &quot;Another draggy week before me&quot;.

  Great tips guys, for me I can just fee when a lines not quite right or could be better, change the phrasing etc. it’s like having a sock witha fold in it inside a shoe - everything works well enough as it is but just isn’t right, so off come the “shoe” l, tighten things up, put it back on and walk on it and see how it feels 👍

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VTZ4q3fPmU&amp;t=233">3:53</a> george michael put the title only on the very last line on a few of his songs. i think it worked really well. if you know what you&apos;re doing, you can do what you want and still make it work.
