You can miter the ends of the metal frame, which will allow the clamps to slide it from either direction.

Once I get my laser engraver, 3d printer and CNC machine I’m going to make one of these.

Matt, thanks so much for including us in the video!  We can’t wait to see how you use our kit in future projects.  Love the build and the integration of extrusion into the bench, extrusion is one of our favorite non-wood products to really up the functionality of things in the shop.  We use it JUDICIOUSLY in benches, racks and other projects to improve rigidity, work holding capabilities and adaptability… And funnily enough was one of the prime drivers in the development of our SYS-GRP work holding system.  Again thanks, always love your content and look forward to feedback from you on how things are working!

I’ve watched 100’s maybe 1000’s of woodworking videos but you seem to be the best equipped and precise woodworker that I’ve seen.  Wow!  You are very good.  Almost intimidating!   Thanks for your videos.  I’ll be subscribing for sure.   Thanks for no profanity too.  That’s a blessing!!!

Could have printed a corner piece that allowed the clamps to slide in while provided a rounded corner.

I am blown away with this build. Extremely well done. This has to be the best workbench out there. Give yourself a big pat on the back.

Will plans be available?  This is the perfect Frankenstein of all the features I’ve wanted.

The timing for this just couldn't be better - I was literally in the shop yesterday with a tape measure working out where my new big table/bench was going to go, and how much bigger it could be if it could do a couple more things....!! So thank you, and add me to the list of people who'll buy the plans if you choose (I hope!) to release them.

I never get tired of watching quality work, wonderful video. I got a book years ago called "Making workbenches", and it had several levels of benches. The top quality one was the solid wood, of course, but then it had one where top was 3 pieces of 3/4 inch mdf glued together with hardboard as facing. You could do any top, but the base had 4x4 pine legs, and cross pieces of 2x4, with 2 grooves each, and threaded rod to tension them against the legs. I built that and it has worked so well, as a 2nd tier construction method. The reason is you can take it apart, and replace or fix anything you want. Its not glued. Its so rock solid, and you can tighten the rods now and then if wood compresses a bit. The top is mega heavy, but the rest easy to move. Either way, a solid bench you can hand plane on and rely on flatness is indeed a critical part of making stuff.
