In a world of AI content and pop-science religion this podcast is such a breath of fresh air. Real people, really thinking.

I subscribe to Tesla's view that light is like a soundwave with the medium being aether

Riveted by this topic — I didn't realize how well developed your model was. I'll be picking up a copy of the book. Thanks for your work. The thing that actually grounds physics to reality needs to make a comeback.

I was never much of a fan of ghost busters, but aware of it enough that I remember that the weapons used were filamentlike and im probably mixing metaphors of ghost busters but I feel like your filaments could be like ectoplasm. When the guy asked about the attenuation of light as it moves along filaments into greater relative vacuum of space, and she answered with the possibility that friction in the filaments could be involved, it made me ask, what is the filament made of. But I think the idea for now is not to try to guess at that too much yet, and see how these posited filament networks could most efficaciously explain various phenomena and then perhaps let that inform ideas of what filaments are made of. Really like the direction these two people are going in. One question, probably explained in earlier reading, but i assume that the filaments can often disconnect from one atom and connect to another, for example when atoms rotate? But im also assuming that there is only atoms and filaments in the vacuum of space, and so how does a filament behave if one end can disconnect and reconnect to another atom? Maybe they only disconnect one end at a time, and during periods of time they are only singly connected they are entirely governed by the one atom they connect to? That way we don't go back to any spooky action at a distance or local nonrealism. Before hearing these guys filament ideas, I was starting to consider Sabine's superdeterminism. Again so far love the idea of filaments. I never liked the idea that Mickelson and morely disproved the aether, and filaments seem to offer a radical but based premise in which light travels like music before it enters the air, while it is still in the instrument. Its among many things a potentially brilliant compromise between aether and no aether. Essentially the universe at large is the most complex musical instrument that could ever be conceived.

Great job. Good answers to tough questions. As usual, a very thought provoking reading. Having read your book, and reread many parts, it’s very challenging for me, on one hand, to admire your effort to move us away from mathematical constructions of reality, while at the same time see you “tangible-ize” reality through atoms and their associated atomacious filaments.
But that was your quest, and you succeeded admirably. .

With regard to light (and the electron), you seem content with de-objectification here, referring to it as a motional occurrence, a disturbance, in the areas surrounding this actual object called an atom. As I have mentioned, you seem to me to be so close to an answer: the dynamic “composition” of the universe-Motion. Not constructs of atoms connected by fibrous/filaments that interrelate through a pre-unaccounted for motion, but the under appreciated and unrecognized—can’t feel it till relative position change is observed—-universal motion. That is to say, movement we would not know that we are involved in, the vast speeds associated with cosmic movement, unless our planetary position changed with regard to other entities making up the universe. We are sensorially blind to it.

You understandably cringe at the word field considering your affection for the bounded concept of the atom. I have a similar reaction to the word atom, and with the word particle, because it moves us away from understanding the continuum of the universe. Segmentation versus continuousness.
Oh well…..

But I appreciate the gumption displayed in the construction of your theory. Your book is beautifully written and helpful.
Thanks guys.

Weird 💪 Flex…. But 👌 OK 🤷♀️

One thing that got me through graduate school, four years of a PhD program, was a very finely developed sense of humor. Enjoy.❤
