  I loved this conversation. I think that your recent foray into the deep history of the first cultures has highlighted how much we don&apos;t know. In particular, the enigma of the Sumerians and their unexplained origins is really intriguing. I also learned from Nick that the Rig Veda contains history. I had no idea. I&apos;d always had the impression that it is a spiritual/philosophical body of writing. Maybe that was due to the &quot;whitewashing&quot; of Indian history?

  Fabulous topic. As far as I’m aware (and it’s been years) Mesopotamian texts (such as Sumerian cuneiform records) mention trade with a region named Meluhha, which historians and archaeologists widely identify as the Indus Valley Civilization.

  Most enjoyable. You guys do a great job of digging into a wonderful selection of topics:<br>One week cosmology, the next anthropology. <br>And you both display an amazing sense of knowledge, or at least a healthy curiosity, on the subjects covered. The questions you present are vitally important and often perplex the guest experts. <br>Truly amazing. <br><br>I particularly liked, in this discussion, Mr Collins’ emphasis on the part played through trade by navigation. Human need, existence, addressed by trade to correct resource imbalance must certainly trump religious “theories” as the driver for civilization and human dispersal. Mausoleum and temple constructs are certainly more easily accessible, so archeology historically has centered around these edifices…..Boats and costal civilizations not so much. But here is the key I think to unlocking who we were and are: we were traders and are traders. <br><br>I also liked the discussion of using astronomy found in the historical records to date occurrences, perhaps more correctly. Carbon is such an environmentally nebulous tool, despite the Green arguments to the contrary, and star positionings seem more reliable when available. <br><br>Great chat, guys. Thanks.

  In fact, trying to make sense of prehistory is more difficult without a map of coastlines prior to the Younger Dryas. Sundaland, Persian Gulf, Doggerland, Black Sea...look at where the coastlines were before 10k years ago.
