I was under the impression the impression that Sherma just walked past the judge. The judge is, well, a judge. Sherma is utterly devout and pure. Of course they let him past.

 It's why I love Luigi.
Dude's scared shitless of his own shadow, but the moment you touch his brother he will go through hell and back to make you regret it.

My personal head canon is that after Hornet got rid of the void, Sherma became the leader of the new citadel, leading it and it's pilgrims into a new era of true holiness to make up for all the damage both the weavers and the Conductors created

I cannot believe I hit every single one of the Sherma cutscenes in my playthrough. It endeared Sherma to me, made me dash like a mad-Hornet to Whiteward the moment I saw his quest, and when Hornet thanks Sherma towards the end, I also couldn't help but do the same.

I straight up forgot that this wasn’t a video essay on Requiem until the end of that section—both games are so cool.

I think there’s also some really good aspects about how Sherma’s faith changes his journey as well.
We see him in the beginning taking this pilgrimage as a sign of his faith, that those devout are called to do by the teachings of their faith. But as he moves through Pharloom and sees how little both the physical and religious structures care for its pilgrims, he changes his focus. His personal pilgrimage is put aside in order to aid his fellow believers when no one else in their faith is. His predecessor literally abandons his faith and his duty to the people of Songclaive and Sherma explicitly, and Sherma willingly steps up to the plate and carries on. Because his faith is unshakable, not immutable. He has grown to focus that faith into people, instead of doctrines that discard them.
And that’s rad as hell.
