Actually the single rosary thing at Loams is even worse, if you keep running it only drops a rosary SOMETIMES when it reaches the mark. This is intermittent reinforcement, the same as gambling. Loan is basically hooked up to a slot machine as payment

The automated confession chamber is my favorite bit of the underworks, that place is 100% environmental storytelling cinema.

To add on to your point about the glowing moths/lumaflies:
These bugs turned into ethereal guides and lights aren't only condemned to float around or be made into decorative lamps, they're put to even more work!

All of the automatons you see in the game, mainly in the cogwork core, ALL of them, when destroyed, have one or more of these glowing moths come out from them. Each and every one of the servant robots of the citadel are powered entirely by the fluttering souls of past pilgrims, bound now by code inscribed through their wires to keep on working forever. There is truly no rest to these bugs eternal servitude.

What I found to be the most heartbreaking part of Loam's character is just how easily he could've left. The door was right in front of him, mockingly close, and yet he never took that chance. If he took the right path out, the worst he'd have to deal with is Wisp Thicket, then he'd reach Greymoor and be able to settle down in Bellhart. But even when the Void brings parts of the Citadel tumbling down, he doesn't leave, and instead dies on his treadmill crushed by debris. And when you play your Needolin, his last thoughts are how relieved he is, happy that he doesn't have to keep toiling away on that treadmill.

huh, just realized isamor is faded green, unlike the gilded, well, nearly everything else of the citadel, suggesting he was made of a much more affordable/plentiful material (copper/brass/bronze). the details in this game can certainly be astounding.

The first game talks about how, in a fight between two gods, the ones who lose the most are the mortals caught in the middle of it, while the second game talks about how people can cause just as much damage as any god

Something that gets a bit overlooked is that Greymoore is built almost entirely out of bamboo.
The Wisp Thicket above Greymoore has lots of bamboo. Greymoore when it use to just be "The Moore" probably looked just like the Wisp Thicket.

Also explains what Father of the Flame is about. Got tired of catching silk and instead burn the silk so that the citadel would run out of silk, since escape was not an option.

Considering that all the silk was recycled and how the conductors would always be consuming silk to keep themself and everyone immortal, they would have to replace the burnt silk with more from Grand Mother Silk's cocoon. This is probably what would lead to the cocoon becoming unraveled enough for GMS to cause the haunting.

Note that the burning bugs that worship the Father of the Flame are not haunted and they burn pilgrims into ash much the same as the cauldron of the underworks above them.
Becoming a wispfire, true death, was probably better then becoming a silk butterfly to continue serving even after death.

The Wisp Thicket being connected to the underworks mean that the burning bugs found the truth of the cauldron, underworks and the whiteward.

The lift into the Underworks is what gets me.
The way it's designed makes it seem like it'll take the Pilgrims up into the Citadel, even starting upwards, only to drop them down into the Underworks to be slaves. A real gut punch to any Pilgrim who spent so long climbing up to the Citadel and survived the Judges.
Though, considering that the lift looks like it belongs there while the upper entrance into the Citadel looks hastily blocked off, the lift was likely a feature of the original Pilgrimage as well. The Pilgrims who understood the purpose of the scales and ascended them got to go into the Citadel proper and be part of the Choir, while the Pilgrims who thought that their trials were over and headed straight ahead got sent down to the Underworks for their "laziness".

Also, there'd a Conductor's corpse at the very edge of the Wastes that can't be seen without a mod to remove the wind effects. It seems like one of the Conductors tried to run but didn't get very far.

I would like to add something in regards to your final point about the Conductors suffering the same fate as the bugs they exploited. Much like how Loam was crushed under rubble at the start of the Void Entanglement, Conductor Ballador suffered the same end. Both were sad and alone in a dying kingdom, while also sharing similar ends. I'm not sure if Team Cherry intentionally did this, but it is very ironic nonetheless.

31:50 Worth noting, the Conductors were, as stated by the Last Edict of the Conductors: “designed by architects, made of rotor and shell”, which implies they underwent severe surgery to attain this “divine” shape, to enhance their voices to boom. Hence, they literally need the silk to live. Interesting characters.
