  If this was a GIRLS trip and one of the girlfriends wanted to bring her boyfriend, the group would be livid!!!  This is strange to me that these guys insist on bringing their girlfriends on every supposed guys' outdoor trip, and they change the entire itinerary to make the girlfriends happy, so it is no longer an all-guy friend's trip at all!!!

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M4KEWIBFHc&amp;t=1193">19:53</a> regarding the whole situation of OP getting banned so quickly from the cottage, it sounds like OPs girlfriend’s family is a bit classist… OP mentioned how he has done various labor jobs (roofing, storm clean up, plumbing, pulling cars out of sand ditches, etc) for her grandpa, and the neighbors… I have been with a very handy (blue collar) guy like this. My family loved him while he was doing stuff for them… but then he was the first to be blamed if something unexpected happens… it’s not always super noticeable, but the way this family and community switched up on OP in favor of the rude <i>homeowner</i> speaks volumes, imo.

  I&apos;m so tired of older people acting like complete a**holes and expecting to get away with it because they &quot;we&apos;re raised in a different time&quot; they&apos;ve been alive long enough to know better, but people like grandpa here make excuses and just ignore it. I think the confrontation was indeed needed and people need to stop caring about strangers opinions. So stupid.

  The story with the cottage. Honestly, the fact that the grandpa cares more about his own image in the community than the wellbeing of his granddaughter and her partner says a lot about the grandpa. He banned op because people in the community were talking about them. I would have told the grandpa how disappointed I was with him and I wouldn’t be going back to the cottage until he can prioritize the wellbeing of his family over his own image. Stop pandering to the elderly when they are wrong. They can and should learn from mistakes they make and this was grandpa’s mistake, not op’s.

  Fuck taking the high road. Stand your ground. Abusers are counting on you taking the high road, and just taking their abuse or not doing anything about it. Some people really can&apos;t stand up for themselves, or be willing to take the side of the one in the right now adays. Regarding the update, I wouldn&apos;t go back to the cottage honestly, they showed how quickly they can change their opinion of you, and how they can use you for their own devices.

  As someone who is the single when everyone else is a couple, I understand OP1’s frustration. I’m so happy my friends have partners in their lives, but if we organized a hangout that was “just the girls” or “x group without partners” and it was always getting changed, I would be disappointed. I dislike that the other guys are accusing OP of changing things when they’re the ones who changed the dynamics of the trip by once again bringing their partners. It was supposed to be a trip for just the guys, and now it’s a trip that seems catered to the girlfriends. OP doesn’t need to also be in a relationship to want just solo time with his friends.
