  Also, I&apos;ve acquired a good bit of equipment, speakers, raw drivers, etc..<br>I was a paid system and listening &nbsp; room set-up consultant refered to Audiophiles that spent a lot on their Audio Systems, only to get more and more pissed off day by day!<br>I was a part time Sound Man for a popular local band.<br>I accurately mixed shows .<br>I have the rare blessing of having over 20 pairs of speakers, 15 power amps, &nbsp;etc.. System Matching,and <br>Proper room set-up is 60% of the battle. One more thing, Home Depot 12 gauge twisted Romex are my favorite speaker wires! LOL<br>Remember, ISOSOLES triangle setup!

  All of this resonates intuitively with every experience I have encountered in my obsessive determination to set up my extensive collection of vintage passive speakers with select active subsystems into a coherent well integrated home audio organism. I appreciate your uninhibited valuation of audiophile truth because now I know I&apos;m not imagining those nuances where my stereo system seems to become fatigued and strained at times. I learned my lesson about how regular maintenance on the $20 Vintahe boxes is well worth the inconvenience rather than adding yet another amp, &nbsp;processor, &nbsp;or receiver. My trusty robusty Pioneer sx201 was functioning fine until suddenly no power. No nothing anymore. Instead of impulsively purchasing another box, it&apos;s time for me to actually take the risk of being electrocuted by the voltage output the manufacturers warn of. Or it this also a way to discourage end users from making cost effective repairs themselves ? I can&apos;t even find information online for finding cretain service manuals, and the owners manual says that I must call the manufacturer if my unit engages protection mode. Even if it was still under warranty or insured today, there are no more repair technicians standing by like they did in the past. And nobody else, save this channel, has been as graciously honest enough to provide any real solutions, not without that prestigious price tag attached and an element of proprietary skill.

  Age is a factor too. In my youth I loved the rolled east coast sound. These days I prefer speakers that have a flat to rising high end.

  Right on point!!!!<br>Throwing money at the Audio experience is not the answer!<br>Most Audiophiles save for the system that they read about in Stereo File magazine. ( I fell for that marketing bullshit as well!).<br>I learned fast out the Door went the Krell KSA 250 that really let me down. &nbsp;No where near Tonally Flat as Amplifier Specs should be. An Equalized U shaped response to deceive the buyer into believing that deeper sound stage is due to their superior engineering! ( Vocalist in the back of the stage, with snare drums in the front! PLEASE!)

  peak power specs got discredited in the 70s and RMS was demanded if not in law by the magazines and customers. Most buyers quickly discover that doubling the prices is only a small increase in performance if anything at all. Linear improvements have exponential price increase. The loudness of speakers where a doubling of loudness is a 10db increase as db is logarithmic changes in volume. Spec sheets often omit the details like frequency range to _/- 3dB or to +/- 6db to &quot;look&quot; better.

  I love Yamaha A-S501 and my Sony SS-MSP3000. using a cheap streaming box. It&apos;s good enough for me.
