“Death of Growth,” as you put it, tells me we can only expect more bloodshed and dismemberment in the endless pursuit of appeasing shareholders :(

Rich people are not getting richer fast enough, according to rich people.

The notion of infinite growth is a delusion that ruins a lot of good economic balance in the world.

Went to a retro game show this past weekend and it just feels so much better to have a hobby that has a community rather then a webstore.

Gaming companies that are public are only going to get more and more predatory towards their customer base. The enshittitification of everything continues.

10:11 I sure do love being completely taken for granted and abandoned for the crime of being an adult in this time period. So glad I’m about to be priced out of literally everything from necessities to entertainment and hobbies. Thrilled at the hoards of folks who are defending companies that see them as nothing but a walking ATM. What a time to be alive.

Huh, game companies are going to "squeeze more"? That's so cool. It's actually awesome that everything is getting worse and more expensive. I'll probably just stick to indie games.

2 takeaways for me here: 1. when companies recognize that their little niche won't sustain line forever going up, they must simply wring even more from their user base because 'line must go up!' 2. I'll never be able to give PlayStation my money to play ghosts of yotei. If piracy is a service problem, PS is telling me to pirate because they will not provide a service.

I work in live service games. When you reach the point of no growth execs always push to milk the existing fanbase. Of course all that does is accelerate churn and eventually the death of the game, instead of being happy with good, stable revenue.

Grateful for one take when it means Jason keeps in an accidental 6-7 joke
