Congratulations, Luke! I normally listen to the podcast instead of watching the video, but I felt like coming to YouTube today to celebrate with you. Thank you for all your hard work, funny jokes, lessons, insights, cultural facts and inspiration. You’re great!

Hi Luke, I’ve been following you for a long time. and also, I wrote to you once, and you kindly replied perhaps ten years ago. In the early years, it was quite difficult for me to understand your perfect British English, but nowadays it’s always a pleasure to listen to your warm and gentle voice. Thank you for sharing so many wonderful stories over the years. Regards from Chile..

Congratulations on such a milestone! I think that I’ve been listening to your podcast for over 6 years now. I haven’t heard all 1000 episodes but I have listened to many of the episodes from the archive and still look up old episodes whenever I have time. I never miss a new episode, always listening to the very end. I am sorry that I don’t comment, but I promise that I’ll start, and try to do it every now and then. This message is me rambling to celebrate 1000 episode :)
You are doing an amazing job, no doubt! I am always smiling whenever you are commenting that you are not sure if the episode is too long, or if the topic is too niche, or if the quality is not too perfect, because all of your episodes are really interesting and entertaining. Even if I know nothing about the topic, I always listen and I find it really entertaining. You have amazing guests, I enjoy conversations with every one of them. It is great to hear people with different accents. The episodes are never too long, with the current technology we can stop at whatever moment and then continue when ready, so it really doesn’t matter if the episode is 1 hour or 3 hour long. For me personally, the longer the better 😊
I know my English has significantly improved over the years, I don’t actively work on it, I shadow from time to time, but mostly, I just listen. My level before was more or less high school level. I wasn't very good in conversations, I knew a little bit of grammar, quite a lot of vocabulary, I could read and watch movies, but I wasn’t able to ‘produce’ English and speaking always made me anxious.
The most significant improvement for me was to be able to understand more and more - different accents or not that perfect ‘audio quality’… I need to cooperate with people from all over the world, with different language skills, different accents etc. I don’t need to hear each word loudly and clearly anymore to understand the message. So, each time you get annoyed with ‘not excellent’ audio quality or dogs barking in the background, it works very well to improve my English skills😊 I do not have the influence on the Teams audio quality or phone reception and these episodes allow me not to focus on the noise in the background. It made my life easier! I know that I make a lot of mistakes, stumble on my words from time to time, but I do it in my native language as well, so I guess it is OK and it is not that uncommon to correct ourself, or start the sentence again differently.
Even though I am aware you are teaching me English in each episode, I have never felt like it is English lesson, which is really great. I love this way of learning. I am pretty sure that even if my English will be perfect one day I will continue to listen to your podcast, just for fun. I am recommending your podcast to everybody 😉 Cheers, Magda from Kraków, Poland

All my favorite parts of this 1000th episode were when Olivia barged into the podcast lol with all her random questions, especially the ones about her English homework. Her presence brought so much joy to the episode. Please make another rambling podcast with your daughter again!

Thank you for everything you do, Luke, and congrats on 1,000 episodes!

Congratulations Luke. I'm civil engineer. 4 years ago, I started following your podcast as I started new job and that job required me to drive car daily for long distances, three hours daily. I enjoyed accompanying your podcast. Certainly I benefited from English learning point of view, but also i enjoyed the natural way i felt in your various podcast subjects. Thank you very much.
