  It's said that during the Crimean war England Ireland Scotland Wales and Berwick-upon-Tweed declared war against Russia. In the peace treaty Berwick was left out and so technically  was still at war with Russia untill the 1960s.  I remember a news presenter ( I think that it was Mike Nevil ) in one broadcast explaining that a peace treaty had finally been signed and that the cannon that had been captured during that conflict was no longer aimed directly at the Kremlin and that the people in Russia could now sleep peacefully in their beds.

  One fact to correct is right at the beginning of the video where the narrator says “the Irish Sea to one side, the Celtic sea to the other”. Is should be the Irish Sea to one side and the North Sea to the other. The Celtic sea is below the Irish Sea where the channel meets the Atlantic.

  I live less than a quarter of a mile from a small hamlet called Tucking Mill in Somerset where William Smith (father of English geology) once lived. His name is engraved in stone in a cottage there but the only problem is it was engraved on the wrong cottage. The correct cottage is about 20 metres away.

  I live in Staffordshire, near a small village called Hammerwich. In 2009, in a field within the boundary of Hammerwich, the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver ever was found. Approximately, 4600 items weighing 5.1 kg of gold and 1.4 kg of silver. It&apos;s now known as The Staffordshire Hoard.
