  As an Australian, I’ll believe it when I see it.<br><br>Not just when they start construction.<br>Not just when they are 50% done.<br>When the line is completed and actually running.<br><br>When significantly smaller &amp; easier infrastructure projects are consistently getting cancelled even well into their construction (or with hundreds of millions wasted on feasibility studies), it’s not hard to imagine this gets shelved once again.<br><br>Just this year the inland rail project had a cost blowout nearing $50 billion, and was subsequently cancelled halfway through. Terrain-wise, that was a piece of cake compared to some portions of this line. <br><br>As we have already seen with high speed rail in previous decades, I expect this will get shelved once again only for further hundred million dollar feasibility studies to occur down the line.

  I’ve been pushing for this train my whole life… you don’t understand how annoying the Australian public can be with infrastructure<br><br>Edit: gees lads calm your farm it’s a youtube video. XD<br><br>For anyone saying it’s crazy expensive and it’ll take a long time… well of course it will, but that’s why we need to start ASAP. Then maybe our grand kids will have a better country than we did. It’s called long-term investments. Throughout history infrastructure may have taken multiple generations but if they always thought selfishly and only done things that benefited them right then, then we wouldn’t be here today. <br><br>Stop hating each other and start looking at what you can do to progress, sure it sucks you might miss out on something good but I’d die happy knowing the earth is in a better place then when I was born.
