  Welsh teacher here: I have to say this is a very well researched video that mostly represents Cymru (Wales) quite accurately. And I enjoyed it. Well done for mostly using the Welsh names for places instead of Anglisised ones. Your pronunciation was decent but if you want to learn Cymraeg (Welsh) you'll find another world will open up to you with even more facts, fantasy and fun. If you want to do a follow up video have a look at The Mabinogion tales, King Arthur, the tradition of the Eisteddfod, the persecution of the Welsh language, the first use of the Red Flag of rebellion in Merthyr, the farmers who wore women's clothes to crush a cruel tollgate system in west Wales, how Wales was the first colony of the British Empire and how one poor man in Pembrokeshire flew a plane across a field before the Wright brothers. You are indeed correct that Cymru is a wonderful, amazing nation. And despite everything we are still here - rydyn ni yma o hyd!

  This year we celebrated 850 years since the first Eisteddfod - a tradition that has continued in one form or another since then.  The eisteddfod deserves a you tube video all of its own.

  My Mum was a Welsh speaker and when on a visit to Brittany realised she could roughly understand a couple of old boys talking in a small cafe. Of course Welsh, Cornish and Breton are all forms of Brythonic languages. I find the spread of tongues absolutely fascinating.

  I've lived in Wales for the past 6 - 7 years. My wife is a Welsh lass, born and bred. I remember when I first moved here, she took me for a walk up 14 locks in  Newport. Around half way, I was fed up with going "up" (it was hard work) so I turned around 180 degrees to go back down. Guess what, it was still UP. There is simply no such thing as down in Wales. Everywhere is UP.

  The first steam locomotive on a track was invented in Wales in Merthyr Tydfil in the early 1800s, which was also considered "the iron capital of the world" with steel exported all over the world. The locomotive helped transport the steel.
