Do you think geothermal energy should be pushed more?

It's basically a heat exchanger

Here to mention the work of Canada's repurposing oil wells into geothermal plants in the prairies and the work Six Nations is doing to make huge green energy infrastructure. Haven't heard any updates on these two projects in a while.

Part of my job for 25 years. Planning geothermal wells. Very cheap energy depending on where you are.

The whole “throwing a lifeline to oil and gas” giants will be the game changer.

Its great idea to use oil/gas industry as an ally in the energy transition. They are powerful players and they can both help a lot and stall the process

Beeindruckende Recherche. Viele dieser Zusammenhänge kannte ich vorher nicht. Bin gespannt auf weitere Videos.

It sounds like very promising technology

The drillers, who mostly work for subcontractors, btw, are sitting on their hands just the now; a finished technology that has some chance of licensing and we are off to the races. The big boom will come with the technology to drill those deep wells and in the main, that means work at temperatures nearly at the melting point of steel. The drilling rigs to run it with already exist. I wouldn't worry too much about the plight of Big Oil; their grandfathers had to make a similar jump from a previous fuel source- coal, as in Big Coal. My tea leaves are leaning towards being Big Utility Players, so it is likely they aren't far behind the curve on this knowledge. You are so right that they have the money and exactly the sort of staffing to do big engineering projects quickly and on time.

One of the main problems is exhausting the conduction and making it a heat depleted zone. Next it causes structural collapse and prone to earthquakes. So basically it’s an idea which will not work easily.

Really interesting video. The only geothermal energy I heard during my engineers studies was the one for heat pumps. Not as deap, not as powerfull. Thank you
