So... This would probably drill through a vault, right? Asking for a friend

Thanks for visiting, Matt! Stay tuned for more as we build toward our first power plant.

It's very encouraging to see them talking about real hard numbers and not talking about how they're going to need subsidies to stay afloat

This is why you can’t just cancel research randomly- you never know how badly we’ll need the discoveries of today when tomorrow comes knocking

Interesting. I enjoyed this very professional documentary.
Here in Costa Rica geothermal energy has been used for many years to produce power, mostly near volcanoes. Our electricity in Costa Rica is fully from renewable sources (ground, lakes, and air).

The fact this beam blasts a bigger diameter than the beam is great.
I could see structural pellets sent down the hole and cycloned to the wall and melted in places where the existing rock lacks compressive strength needed to keep the bore open.

Geo thermal works 24/7 and not just for power, but for heating and cooling as well. The benfit there is that there are a few levels of drilling for each one of those and if they can get teh price down, I dont see why we wont be tapping into the Earth not just for homes and small business, but large scale locations as well. I think you covered, Yellow Stone alone could power the whole US - but this will allow any parts of the US to get it without having to run lines and lines of cables.

I like how clear-eyed they are about the target IRR. They're going in for the kill.

Watching this tech leap from theory to rock-melting reality is a powerful reminder that some of the world’s biggest energy challenges might be solved with tools we didn’t expect. Impressive coverage on how fusion-adjacent innovation could reshape geothermal access.

Nothing says engineering at work quite like a shot of technical machinery with a clamp, vice grip, and string line. 9:34

What is not mentioned in the Video is one big surplus advantage: you can use almost all now running conventional Power plants by drilling the borehole next to it, which makes it even more impressive.
