  I had a feeling of accomplishment yesterday whilst taking my two kids (13 & 16 y/o) to band practice. My daughter selected tubular bells to listen to for the journey with my sons instant approval.  My work as a parent just reached new heights.

  While I was waiting to hear Mike Oldfield perform this at the Macroom Mountain Festival in the late 1970s, I watched some crazy roady climb up into the scaffolding with a beer, and sit there above the Dubliners while he drank it. Then the poor bastard had to climb down and set up all the instruments for Mike O all by himself. I was unhappy that the big star was having this poor grunt do all that set up alone. Of course, the crazy roady turned to be the Man himself! An awesome performance even before a note was played!

  Mike Oldfield, the seemly forgotten genious progressive musician, who never appears in all those rankings.<br>But he has every right to be mentioned in one line with Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd and few hands full of other masters of Progressive Rock.

  My first &quot;western&quot; vinyl ever. In the early 80&apos;s in communist Poland it was an absolute rarity. A place forever in my heart guaranteed.

  Ich kann mich noch so gut an dieses Konzert erinnern, als währe es erst gestern gewesen...! Am Sonntag Nachmittag gab er das Zusatz-Konzert für seine treuen Fans und am Abend spielte er nach, the Blues Band auf der Bühne in Montreux. Ja das waren noch Zeiten, sind mit einer alten klapprigen Honda XS aus Winterthur-Zürich angereist. Fun pur, werde das niemals im Leben vergessen, Viele Leute hatte ich 3-4 Monate vorher noch in Indien angetroffen...!!!

  Mike was a customer of mine back late 90’s early 2000 he flew RC helicopters. My employee was in a band, and one day served him, but did not put the name together…pointed it out after Mike left and he freaked 😊

  This album was and is a masterpiece. It was so original, unique, and complex for its time and made everyone that heard it sit up and take notice. Like all great music, it will live forever. Well done Mike!
