  I like the idea of batman being more of a cryptid than just some guy who dressed up and claims to be a bat. Batman should be feared and mystified.

  I read somewhere that McKean wanted to depict Batman as how the inmates see him. To them he's NOT a guy in a suit...he's a shadowy Bogeyman lurking in the darkness. Either way, it's a great book. And I'm really loving your channel!

  My favorite Batman comic besides The Dark Knight Returns. Arkham Asylum is something else. Downright disturbing yet also beautiful artwork.

  THAT ARTWORK CAPTURED WHAT ARKHAM WAS AND SHOULD STILL BE ABOUT. I BOUGHT THAT BOOK BACK IN THE 80'S WHEN IT CAME OUT AND THE ARTWORK CAPTURED THE DISTURBING TAKE ON "ARKHAM".....BEAUTIFUL ❤

  The artwork is amazing. It almost looks photorealistic at times, but then it contorts in an unnatural way that makes it unsettling. <br><br>I&apos;d love to see this translated into a live action film. ❤❤

  This comic is amazing and I always saw joker as wearing a rubber mask. The way his eyes are always popping out. That ending always got me too. Batman yelling “FOR GODS SAKE, HELP ME.” And the dr slits the throat of the crazy dr. Idk it’s so unbatman

  Funny, that profile of Batman looked more like Don Quixote de La Mancha, with the hooked nose and oil-lantern jaw.

  For about five or six years after this book came out, I&apos;d see Dave McKean at his agent Alan Speigel&apos;s table, with these original pages on display. They were huge, like 18&quot;x24&quot;, and even more stunning in real life. They were out of my price range at the time, but I&apos;m kicking myself for not springing or at least one. It would have been worth at least ten times what he was charging. Though I don&apos;t know if I&apos;d ever be able to let it go. <br><br>Fun fact: Dave took photo reference for all his characters, and Neil Gaiman sat for Batman. If you looked closely at the pages, you could see that, much of the time, he was actually pasting the photos onto the paper, and then painting over it. It&apos;s truly mixed media.
