I love how the dogs seem to disagree on the source and nature of the threat. Only  one seem to see the true horror, and with his body language, it knows there is no fighting that thing.

I think the dog in the center really makes this piece. It has it's back to the creature, and is looking away from where it should. This only adds to the confusion, creating a more uncanny atmosphere - especially BECAUSE animals are supposed to be more aware of these things.

Reminds me of that gothic horror prompt for inspiration.<br>“Your dog is barking at something out in the field. You see nothing, and are thankful. It’s worse when you do see what’s there.”

This painting could easily be the poster for a remake of The Thing. The dogs figure it out so the Thing promptly kills them and replicates their shape, making the humans think only one dog survived so they bring it inside with them.

If that was a Shihtzu the cosmic horror would have been dead

Who will win? 3 dogs vs. Singularotep, the God of the unfathomable plague.

I like to think the creature isn’t actually malicious or aggressive, it’s just… there

What fascinates me more is Lovecraft&apos;s narrative. &nbsp; This was LONG before film&apos;s like John Carpenter&apos;s &quot; The Thing,&quot; Scott&apos;s &quot;Alien,&quot; etc. &nbsp; The Antartica narrative with hidden species has been a growing topic amongst the UFO community for some time now. &nbsp; What a visionary.
