The fact that Elle was able to get into Harvard Law School on her on merit then graduated with honors while Warner was waitlisted & only got in thanks to his dad's connections then barely graduated shows Elle was always too good for him.

Elle had a business degree from UCLA, had a 4.0, almost perfect LSAT score, years of leadership experience at her university and could afford to pay tuition at Harvard. She stood out and if she had wanted to, she could have become a lawyer with a background and knowledge in fashion and merchandising setting her up for many job offers. She was an excellent candidate for Harvard.

speaking of legally blonde subverting expectations, i love that they don't end with a huge romantic scene with luke wilson and just complete her arc with winning the court case and graduating with honors. yes, she has a love interest, but that's just another part of her life instead of centering her story around a relationship
