This, sir, is a damn good video. I loved every second of this. "I wish I had spent more time at the office," said no one ever on their deathbed.

I’ve watched too many FIRE/ retirement videos and listened to the podcasts and audiobooks. This (visually boring) video is BY FAR one of the most informative!

I retired just as soon as I could swing it financially, and that was at age 56. No regrets whatsoever and I do not miss work at all.

The first YouTube video that I’ve watched in the last 5 years that is worth its weight in gold! I’m going to ensure that my spouse, parents, siblings and kids all watch it as a starting point to a long overdue discussion we need to all have with our families.

Great content. Been watching you for a while.

One suggestion. In editing, don’t zoom in and out quite as often.

I learned more in this video than I have learned from watching youtube the past 5 years.

1:48 "When you work an extra three years at the end of your career to add a buffer to your portfolio, you're not adding three years to your retirement, you're subtracting three years from your most valuable retirement years." Truth! I'm only 58 and relatively healthy (I cycle to work), and I am noticing both energy level and cognitive declines.

I retired at age 58. On February 16, 2026 , one day before the Chinese new year, I got back home in Canada from a 45 days trip to South, Central and East China. Throughout my trip there, I took many train rides and many, many subway rides. There was not even one delay during that month and a half of travel. The train / subway cars were always clean. Walking out on the street, day and night, I always felt very safe. The transportation, food and accommodations were very affordable. I will certainly visit China again. I admire its people and government. This coming winter, I’ll rent an apartment in Xiamen, Fujian province in South East China. Plus 15 degrees in January 😊.
