Thanks @arab for the video inspiration. The only records I could find is the Sri Lankan gem merchant gifting Queen Elizabeth II the blue sapphire, which then became Dianna’s ring. Fascinating story, the locals tell it differently to Google.

I've been there to go sapphire mining, it's an incredible place. Pit bosses, mining overlords, poverty, riches, bribery, theft, this place has it all. Amazing video mate

Liam ,you are leaving the best videos for the later ones!! Beruwala has been the biggest (if not the biggest, the best) gem market on earth for more than 1000 years. It had a Chinese port. The city was occupied by Somali too. It is a very strong community and any bad behaviour is known by all within minutes.<br>I love the river mining too as it looked like where I mined in 1973 in Pelmedulla
