Nobody regrets the floating staircase with no railing. They are dead so they can't regret it.

Oh, yes! I grew up in a house with a floating staircase. Me and my brother fell down those stairs almost weekly and we injured ourselves sooo many times! Including slipping and getting our legs between the stairs. That was sooo painful! Never have a floating staircase if you are planning to live there with kids or you want to stay there as elderly persons.

I always questioned if the heat from a fire would damage a TV above it. I've known people to place their TV very high on any wall, even without a fireplace...it's a horrible idea. I have mine mounted just below the middle of the wall and it's easy to see from all angles in the room.

A big no no for me is open plan. I like to be able to close a doors to keep rooms as separate spaces for specific purposes

I've had a phobia over open stairs all my life. Others can't understand it. I can't deal with going up and seeing the ground level through those slits.

Saw a video on YT where a pot filler spout popped off and destroyed the entire cabin because it was a summer cabin and the owners were away and they didn't turn the water off. When they returned, the entire interior of the cabin was covered with mold and the flooring was warped.
