36:33 This happens to everyone who watches this show where it starts with “Wow that’s kind of a lot of sex scenes” and by this point it’s “How dare they not show us more” LOL

29:10 As russian I can say that a lot of russians have watched this show (🏴‍☠️). We have an 8.6 rating on our movie rating website (higher than game of thrones). Even some of our artists showed in one way or another that they had watched it. And you can't imagine how this "because russia" affected us. This show really resonates with us so emotionally and gives us hope for a happy ending.

In the past month or so, Heated Rivalry became a major global sensation. What you probably don’t know is that the show has enjoyed extraordinary success even in Russia—despite the fact that it is not officially available on any Russian streaming platform. On Kinopoisk, the Russian equivalent of Rotten Tomatoes, Heated Rivalry has a rating of 8.6; Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, listed as the two most popular series on the platform, both have ratings of 8.3. In other words, a self-selected group of Russian viewers think Heated Rivalry is the best show they’ve ever watched. It’s an unexpected turn, especially for a country widely known for its homophobia.

Svetlana knows Ilya likes men too. Remember the bathroom scene with Sasha? She knows they had a past.

I love Shane telling Ilya he can't come over before their game AS he's actively getting ready to head out the door.

As russian bi i can say that this series changed a lot for me. My family would never accept me and i'm really thinking about emigration. Thats so hard but... u kinda understand that there is nothing really to lose as ure not really ureself at this very moment in this country. Hope one day people can love other people legally in countries like mine...

19:42 Fun fact in this scene in the book, Ilya thinks Shane is about to tell him that he got engaged to Rose and is heartbroken

14:00 Not only is Rose saying "I'm not gonna deal with it because I deserve better" but it also feels like she's coming from a place of "You deserve better than this too..." like in episode 3 when Elena tells Scott "(Kip) deserves sunshine... but so do you." I think the overall messaging of this show is "You don't have to come out publicly because there are still conflicts out there for queer people, but just because there are people out there who hate queer people doesn't mean you have to hate yourself."
