  About 10 years ago I was riding my bike past a country market north of Boulder, CO. In the parking lot of that store was a ‘65-‘66 Shelby Mustang. Of course I had to stop and get a quick look at it. Soon after its owner came out. I start asking him about the car, how long he’s owned it etc. He said he bought it in Georgia while he was on tour with his band. “What band,” I asked. “I work for the band U2, I’m Edge’s guitar tech.” Our conversation lasted about 5 minutes, I didn’t want to take up his time with all of my questions but he was very gracious and patient. The nicest, and I mean the nicest, guy.

  It wild to think U2 not only has had the same 4 guys in the band from day 1, they have mostly had the same road crew since then as well as individual instrument techs since the 1980s. That would be impressive for any line of work.. let alone the music industry considering it isn’t exactly a hotbed of physical and mental health. That says a lot about the character of everyone involved.<br><br>Thanks for posting this. I love this behind the scenes stuff.

  I am not even a big U2 fan, but the sphere show left me shattered. Where the streets have no name was so impactful I was with four middle-aged men bawling our eyes out. It took my breath away. They are legends for a reason!

  As a teenage boy in the ’80s, seeing U2 play live at Red Rocks left me completely in awe of The Edge. His playing was so inspiring that the first guitar I ever saved up for was a black Fender Stratocaster. He’s been my guitar idol ever since — an incredible guitarist and musician in every sense.

  I was an assistant n helper to Dallas as a stage hand on the live 8 gig in 2005 in London , the guy was an absolute legend n a true gent, that was a stressful day, around 28 bands to change over, I slept for a week after it.

  I&apos;ve never seen a professional or known famous guitarist copy The edge the exact same way Edge plays. I will never understand this. He is one of a kind for sure.
