  another tip, use a six point socket to loosen and tighten the drain plug. &nbsp;A 12 point will round off the drain plug

  oil cap was left off at a quick lube place several years ago. &nbsp;Now I change the oil myself and its really easy. &nbsp;Thank you Carlos

  I pour 1/3 qt new oil thru before putting drain plug in. My dad was a design engineer at Chrysler you have the right methods he taught me(. I always avoid power wrenches.

  Many newer cars have what&apos;s called a &quot;clear flood mode&quot;. &nbsp;You can pre-fill the filter with oil without starting the car. &nbsp;On my 2019 Subaru you push the gas pedal to the floor and press the start button for about 10-15 seconds. &nbsp;This slowly cranks over the engine without starting it. &nbsp;It builds oil pressure and fills the filter without starting the engine. &nbsp;Check your manual for this feature.

  Very thorough and informative. You touched upon everything I could think of. One easy reminder to do an oil change AND rotate the tires is to do both every 5,000 miles when the odometer hits numbers like 40,000, 45,000, 50,000, 55,000 and so on. I once accidentally didn&apos;t check the old oil filter to make sure the rubber seal was attached. After I screwed on the new filter and finished the oil change, I started the car. Oil was blowing out from around the oil filter! &nbsp;I&apos;ll never make that mistake again. &nbsp;Also, using an impact wrench on an oil plug is sheer stupidity and lazy!

  I already knew the things the video mentioned except for two things:<br>I wasn&apos;t aware of changing the compression washer on the drain plug during each oil change.<br>I also wasn&apos;t aware of letting the car sit and idle for a minute after an oil change.

  I ran my own business I had a neighbor who had her oil changed at a local oil change shop they double ringed the oil filter she didn’t get a mile from the shop and froze the engine she called me that moment I told her to have it towed to my shop I was her professional witness at the court hearing she got her engine paid for plus labor and loss . Very good advice.

  The last mechanic, before I started to change oil my self, did put something like 75 ft/lb on the drain plug. I had to use the big tools to remove the drain plug, that should get 22 ft/lb. Also he filled a full 5 liter into my engine, instead the 4 liters required.
