12:40 Val Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 so it affected his ability to speak. The little talking you hear Iceman say in the movie was recorded by Val Kilmer's son.

At Iceman's funeral, you can see the 4 jets doing a flyby and 1 of the planes veers off first. That is called the 'Missing Man Formation'. The plane veering away represents those not coming back. Always gives me the feels.

"they do a really good job at making you feel like you're in the plane" thats because they shot the majority of the movie in the actual plane. An airforce pilot flew and the actors were in the backseat with like 6 or something cameras to their faces to capture all those moments you see from inside the plane.

Check the behind the scenes, its soooo good

When you realize that Glen Powell played Hangman as a parallel to the cocky Maverick from the first movie, you really enjoy his performance a lot more. Also, he was so inspired by the real flying scenes that he immediately went out after filming and earned his pilot license.

A "normal" plane. Jeez, P-51 Mustang, one of the best planes of WWII. And TomC actually owns it.

Mach is the speed of sound. Mach 10 means they are going 10 times the speed of sound. Which would be about 7600 miles per hour.

14:35 The Penny character is a call back from the first movie. She was not physically in the first movie, but she was name dropped in passing when talking about Maverick’s past relationships: Meg Ryan’s character mentions the admiral’s daughter and says Goose told her “all about the time you went ballistic with Penny Benjamin”

"Do some of that pilot shit" was also a callback to the first movie. Goose said it then to Maverick, and now Rooster said it to him.

19:32 It feels so realistic because it is real. Those are actual shots from inside the plane, and each actor actually flew in the plane every single scene (paired with real pilots of course)

"Hangman" was supposed to be a parallel to Mav from the first movie. That way we get a bit of an outside look at Maverick's character from the first movie. That and Rooster being a bit more like Iceman (patience, risk-assessment, etc.) That makes the final moments all the more special and it all comes together in a very satisfying way. Glad you liked the film!
