Don't care that the band hated it - it's a great song.

Kate Pierson is criminally underrated and made this song 10x better than it would have been. She deserves more credit for her great voice.

When my daughter was battling cancer this song made her so happy . Stipe, Buck, Mills and Kate from the B52's. My daughter has been gone for 9 years now. Everytime I hear SHP I get tears, She's moved on, but her favorite songs are still playing.

If this song is meant to be a piss-take, it looks and sounds like Kate wasn't in on the joke. And you know what? That's a good thing, because she's absolutely awesome here.

REM hated this song with a passion and only wrote it as a joke mocking the executives who asked them for a "happy song". They didn't expect it to be a hit.

This song wouldn't be the same without the voice of Kate Pierson... her voice, her charisma, her energy take it to another level.

this is supposed to be ironic but the greatest irony is that this song really makes people happy

Kate Pierson was pushing 44 in this and even at that age, I still think she is one of the most gorgeous women in music.

A song that makes me feel kind of emotional. What I’d give to travel back 35 years and be 14 again. It felt simpler than today’s troubled times.
