Kate Pierson is one of those very few singers who can deliver studio-quality vocals at seemingly any given time, under any circumstance – and that still holds true, even now that she's 70 years old.

I've said it and I'll say it again: the period between the fall of the Berlin wall and the 9/11 attacks is a true belle epoque, a wonderful time, no protracted wars, shared prosperity, everything was exciting... and the pop culture man. A true golden age.

Can you imagine going to a bar in Athens, GA back in the day and hearing The B52's or R.E.M.? What a special time and place!

I had a major Brain Aneurysm in 1996. I put on headphones and listened to this day after day. I smiled and it made me HAPPY. Thank You R.E.M .

The female vocal coaxes the melody in an extremely pleasing way. Kate is great.

It was so brilliant of R.E.M. to bring in Kate for Out of Time. Her vocal contributions take the record to a new level, especially on Me in Honey.

R.E.M's rehearsals are better than most bands recordings.

This may be an R.E.M. song, but Kate makes it hers.
