  I saw this opening night, in a packed to the brim theater. There were probably about 30-40 WW2 veterans in the crowd, mostly sat in wheelchairs at the back. I was second row right next to the wall and could hear them reacting (the combat scenes were so loud, they vibrated the walls). When the movie was over, it was silent in the theater, until one person stood up, turned around, and started clapping for those heros behind us. There was not a dry eye, but every single person I heard, said thank you to them as we filed out. That night will be in my head every time I see this movie.

  This is your official obligatory &quot;You MUST see Band of Brothers&quot; comment. It&apos;s a 10 hour Saving Private Ryan in quality. Tom Hanks and Spielberg were just beginning with this masterpiece. They trolled us so hard by the eye fade in the intro making us think Private Ryan was Captain Miller. Well played. There are a million things I could say and corrections to be made but I won&apos;t. Just enjoy the heart felt melee&apos; It can and will speak for itself. The hardest scene for me is the knife fight at the end. Despite all of the amazing effects it&apos;s just far more intimate and shows the pointlessness of War and humanity. Currahee ♠

  As a teenager I saw this in theater with my grandfather who fought in the European theatre during World War II. The one and only time I saw the &nbsp;man shed a tear. A powerful experience I’ll never forget.

  Only someone who has faced war, and seen war up close, should be able to send people to war. You can’t comprehend the cost.

  My Uncle was shot through the chest on Omaha Beach. He survived.

  I&apos;ll never forget this caption under a war ruins picture in my elementary school textbook in the 1960s: &apos;Tragically, it seems to take only one generation to forget the true horror of war.&apos;

  Yes, this was D-Day. &nbsp;I am 71. My Uncle was there, a member of the 101st who parachuted in. He was shot. Another Uncle fought in the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge ). He was wounded. My Dad fought in Italy. He came home. This film was all too accurate. &nbsp;Now you know why these men wouldn&apos;t even speak about what they saw and went through when they came home. <br>Thank you for doing this reaction. These men all need to be remembered and honored.
