That solo was when he was older.. Listen to his stuff from the 50's and early 60's. It's beyond fierce.

In a world where it seems that musicians get better, faster, and more extreme Buddy Rich still runs circles around many of the young bucks.

One thing about buddy, no one can say “Buddy stole that from……”. Because he’s ground zero.

Best solo Ive seen of Buddy was Live at the Hague. Granted, he wasn't having a heart attack. That single stroke roll started on the rim during that solo

What I found hilarious was you saying, "I'd attempt to break it down." Sure, you would Ace!!! Good Luck with that!!!

i actually met buddy rich, he came to our school specifically to talk the kids that were taking drum class. that would have been 6th grade for me, back in 1977. while i never got serious about playing drums beyond 8th grade, i still remember the way he held the left hand stick. which i can still do after the past 45ish years since i quit. he was just phenomenal. and a really down to earth guy. little known fact buddy was a marine. thanks for the content.

Rich started playing drums when he was a toddler, was a child prodigy. and pretty much grew up with sticks in his hands.
