  Summary <br>1. Leave below 150 HZ for kick and bass—use EQ<br>2. Use (little) OTT for thicker sounds<br>3. Group the drums(+kicks) and add OTT on that = glued sound <br>4. Sidechain kick to bass other instruments—gives room for uninterrupted kicks<br>5. Use reference tracks—comparing with a similar good-sounding track helps you to make your track sound good

  i gave up, or rather, permanently took a temporary break in producing around 10 years ago. i got so sucked into to eqing and mixing so much, that most of my time spent in daw was spent trying to make things &quot;sound good&quot;, while before most time was spent creating and working with sounds and delay effects and all that fancy stuff. i dont know if it was my genre or what, but most videos were about the pop edm and making things LOUD but working, or &quot;making sure your eq is .000001 perfect frequency&quot;. i got lost. <br><br>this video is what i needed those many years ago. its like i was going at a block of ice with a sledge hammer to create a sculpture. (im bad at metaphors, but basically, you gave me a tool that while it takes big chunks off, it wont destroy the whole ice block, and lets me do the fine tuning later.) basically, i might slide back into the hobby. need to work my creative muscle, i forgot how most of the things work, but im excited to relearn and get back into my imagination
