Why other mixes sound louder than yours (it's not mastering)

  The best way to make a mix louder is to make it sound good enough for the listener to want to turn it up.

  Three years ago, I was doing everything myself. Producing, mixing, second-guessing every sound. Then I found Zach aka Big Z.<br>He’s the reason “In The Air” sounds like it does, clean, alive and hitting every club like a storm.<br>If you’re producing solo, you know how easy it is to lose perspective. Find someone who hears what you’re trying to say. That’s what he did for me.

  For those that haven&apos;t seen him do this before. At <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=api8s3a_GZA&amp;t=415">6:55</a> the video skips right to the sidechain feature of q4. There&apos;s a blue button icon to the right of the threshold meter that you&apos;ll want to activate for the particular band you&apos;re working with that needs to sidechain that frequency area.
