  This comment section is a dumpster fire. Jaby and Achara are plenty media literate. They sympathized with Bear early because the movie frames him as a sympathetic character, very intentionally, at the start. As it progresses, the realization of how awful this situation is begins to sink in because that&apos;s the whole fucking point of the movie. &quot;dOnT yOu SeE BeAr iS ThE ViLlAiN&quot; well yeah, *everyone knows that*. They know that too and literally say it at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo2DVGPPxWA&amp;t=3619">1:00:19</a>. It&apos;s extremely easy; as someone who&apos;s already seen the movie and viewing every scene from a full perspective like you are right now; to not have sympathy during the earliest scenes. That doesn&apos;t mean the reactors are &quot;media illiterate&quot;. They&apos;re plenty aware of how bad that situation is at the conclusion and literally say it multiple times. What more do you want? An entire video essay?<br><br>If you can&apos;t see that or you think Bear being bad is somehow an uncommon conclusion to draw (instead of one that&apos;s extremely obvious and even echoed by them directly calling him a &quot;creep&quot; and &quot;chicken-shit&quot; as early as a few minutes into the film) or that they don&apos;t realize this when they literally say it out loud several times throughout the reaction and conclusion, then you are the media illiterate one. That, or you didn&apos;t bother watching this to begin with. They focus on the technical aspects of the film **because they&apos;re an amateur film-maker and actress duo**, and they don&apos;t owe you any social commentary along with any other reaction channel on the platform.<br><br>&quot;Poor guy&quot; was said as a joke while they uncomfortably laughed at the &quot;STAY!&quot; scene because of how scared Bear was. Watch it again. Are you all serious with these comments? You people really think that off-hand joke is a defense of Bear? Because if so, like I&apos;ve seen many comments directly claiming, you&apos;re clearly socially illiterate.

  Ironically Bear is the one with the Obsession. His obession with Nikki is what caused him to make the wish.

  Bear didn’t learn his lesson. He doubled and then tripled down. Even when Nikki is pleading for him to kill her and end her suffering all he can think about is trying to find a way to keep this going without inconveniencing himself.

  At a certain point you realize that Bear doesn’t want to undo any of this. Until Sarah dies, he’s perfectly fine with what’s happening to Nikki.

  Man...poor Nikki...was forced to be aware of stuff that was happening to her body and couldn&apos;t do anything about it for weeks (guessing that&apos;s how long)..killed her friends...and will not only be in therapy for the rest of her life, but also likely in prison for the rest of her life. All stemming from some dude&apos;s crush.<br><br><br>Bear literally took the &quot;free&quot; outta her last name.

  I think the Hansel and Gretel scene proves that the real Nikki is witnessing everything that’s happening, she said she thought of him as a brother, and even under the spell that story came out of her

  As soon as Bear found out that the wish worked and realized Nikki was not in control of her body and continued to SA her he became the villan. He was the obsessed one. His obsession made him overlook all the odd behavior from wish Nikki to keep his phony love story going.

  The allegory is terrifying and sad because it’s a kin to sexual assault. Bear literally uses Nikki’s body against her will both sexually and physically. She’s trapped in her own body with no autonomy. Like she’s been drugged.

That&apos;s why love potions in almost every media is so frowned upon. You take someone&apos;s consent and free will out of the equation. When you assert your own will to be loved over their autonomy, you get a person who has no autonomy of their own, effectively changing their entire being
