Always pay cash. Just dont tell your paying cash before the price is locked in 😉

I negotiated an out the door price with them believing I was financing. The sticker price (used) was $27,500 plus fees. I insisted it was out of my range, and got them down to $21,500 with fees. I then walked into finance, where he had my financial paperwork done. I paid cash. It also helped that I knew the car had been on the lot for 87 days. That was 6 years ago, and I’m still driving the car. No payments.

I just watched a video that recommended I do what I did 20+ years ago to buy my truck. Yeah, you don't tell them you're buying with cash. Heck, I learned that from my mom who did that in the early 70's. When I bought my truck, the sales person and finance guy were really pissed when at the very last moment, I switched from financing through the dealership to a cash purchase. They even tried to back out and I said, fine I'd take my $45K elsewhere. They couldn't resist a a chunk of money and a for sure closed deal.

The dealer add ons are all at 400% to 1000% markup, $1500 to $3000 destination charge, $3000 add on warranty that covers nothing. Then if they offer in house finance that's another $6,000 to $10,000.

96 I bought my Camry for 2k. Never broken down on me. Put 40k miles on it in 2 years. New cars won’t do that.

Do what I did - get financing directly from a bank, and then just keep stating you want to finance...

A lot of dealerships now charge a 'financing fee' in addition to admin and prep fees. So you get suckered with at least $600 in extras plus tax on top of that for taking a finance option. This is to disincentive a quick pay down and essentially guaranteeing the dealership finance department at least a year's worth of potentially lost interest payments.

12:02 worth noting, the salesman almost assuredly made a mini of ~$175 on this deal. Salespeople don’t get paid on holdback and they don’t get paid on finance profit. The salesperson got rooked, but the dealer didn’t.

I always pay my vehicle loan early, i never got a penalty for it. I didnt even know they had loans like that.

A lot of places are catching onto finance and pay off next day. Last time I bought the loan had a stipulation of 6 months before you could pay it off

I don’t know the 14 layers but I do know I hate the car buying process, I feel dirty after the experience 😂
