  You have to understand that fashion has gotten more and more casual as time has moved forward.  It is to the point where walking out the house in pajama pants is acceptable.  So, back when things were a little bit more formal, if you simply put on an oxford shirt on without tucking it, and a pair of chinos, that was relaxed wear.  Today, if you simply put on an oxford shirt with a pair of chinos and you actually do tuck it in, you're almost overdressed.

  I grew up in Watertown, Ma in 1960s. I love the Ivy League look. I still wear the Ivy look today with Oxford shirts, hounds tooth sport coats, Bass penny loafers, Sperry topsiders, v-neck sweaters under a sport coat; however, I believe in having clean, well kept clothes, dressing with precision. I have my own Ivy league style, and I dont apologize for it!
