"Imagine if you get it wrong". Ledger improved the missed timing and made it better.

I think one of the most subtle parts is after Dent screams Rachel, Joker is like "Okay, relax, you don't have to yell." 😂

To be fair Harvey is in the Hospital and a bit dazed, he probably had to double take seeing the Nurse as Joker thinking he maybe hallucinating or confused

Joker keeping his finger on the hammer of the gun the entire time is so subtle

What's interesting to me is jokers comment about not having plans. It would seem like he has plans. However not really. He gets an idea and does it. However his goals are simple and chaotic. What's interesting is in all the "jokers". Is he isn't INSANE. He is increasingly angry at society and finds it funny to upset that reality that it's CIVILIZED. If he has any plan at all. It's to prove that what's insane is everyone else thinking that this is the way we are supposed to live. Which leads to the lines about "skimmers". Trying to upset the idea that anyone or anything is "in control". So his true goal is to release people to be their actual and natural self. To be truly FREE.

Actually it is a complete internet myth; the pause and Heath Ledger's reaction during the hospital explosion in The Dark Knight were fully planned and meticulously rehearsed.

Watch Gotham Uncovered: Creation of a Scene," which is an official, behind-the-scenes documentary featured on the home video and Blu-ray releases of The Dark Knight

The Truth About the Scene

Real building: Director Christopher Nolan and special effects coordinator Chris Corbould blew up an actual abandoned building for the sequence.

One chance: Because they could only demolish the real building once, they could not risk an accidental misfire or a multi-million-dollar mistake.

The rehearsal: Heath Ledger rehearsed his exact walking speed and timing about a dozen times before rolling cameras.

The planned pause: As Corbould and Nolan explained in behind-the-scenes featurettes like Gotham Uncovered, the brief mid-explosion pause was engineered on purpose. It gave Ledger a safe window to walk clear of the structure before the main demolition charges leveled the rest of the building.

Ledger's brilliant acting made the moment look so spontaneous that viewers assumed it was a real accident, but he was simply executing a tightly controlled, scripted beat. Ledger was just that dang good

Two face was on drugs and tied up in the hospital because he was a danger to himself and others so the orderlies gave him medication to make him tired and complacent and more unaware of his surroundings. That's why he did not realize it was the Joker in the hospital.

When i first saw this movie, i thought the Joker said that chaos was "fear" not "fair". The real line is way better.

There's a very good fan theory that Ledger Joker was a former combat veteran/mercenary who became crazy due to ptsd.

"truck full of soldiers blow uo, no one bats an eye"

The delayed explosion was Nolan's idea. He's really good. Watch Momento.
