My job isn't to promote big corporations or to you give a propaganda show, no I'm here to show you the current reality of air travel and give customers a voice, hence I'm trying to show you what its really like to travel Air India in these difficult times. Would you fly them? Let me know.

As a retired airline pilot I would be much more worried if they did not Go Around when the approach or landing is not going according to plan. A Go Around can be initiated up to the point that reverse thrust is selected.
All the airlines I flew for (6 in all) had a no blame policy with respect to a Go Around.

It is important to remember that although the crew seem cold, they may have just lost friends and fellow colleagues on that flight😢, some of them are probably still trying to give you the best reaction they can.

A go-around doesnt mean they're nervous, bad choice of words 19:40. Go-arounds happen daily, and are a normal procedure for an airline.

18:52 Correctly executed go-around, or more specifically balked landing. They floated on flare, touched down late, you can see how they retract flaps a notch up before the landing gear, that's also correct. The second touchdown was firm, that tells me they tried to make a very smooth touchdown on the first attempt, floated too long, so on the second attempt they just wanted to get it on the ground.

At 20:30 we can see that the captain himself was there to say bye bye to passengers. That's cool!

I'm not surprised that cabin crew are unwilling to talk. They're not spokespeople for the airline, and I'm sure the media would love to twist and misquote their words if given the chance. I think we really should cut the cabin crew some slack, because they are in a sense mourning over what happened.

Normally the Captain will not tell you about a go around because they are to friggin' busy flying the airplane and configuring the airplane for another climb, talking to the tower and approach control and preparing for the landing.

Personally, I’ve zero problems with Air India, despite the tragic crash, when I travel from London to Delhi or Mumbai, it’s pretty good, but bear in mind, most of the planes on that route are newer ones with the newer uniforms, the recent crash was with a slightly older plane and it appears to have been either an engineering on human error. Otherwise, I believe it’s an ok airline.

To be honest, I can understand why they would choose to limit interaction with the passengers. Doesn't matter how highly trained the crews are, they are still humans. Like you said, they just lost co-workers, perhaps someone that they have flown together; I'd imagine the psychological tolls on them would be pretty high. Yes, Air India hasn't been known for their excellence but at the same time they just had their darkest day in recent times. Let's give them time and space, and for the investigators to find what went wrong.

Rest in peace to all the AI171 victims 🕊️
