I've decided to stay single. It's just easier.

My partner broke up with me again in mania. Just after I supported him in depression for 8 month then suddenly being his „reason” of the depression. As he always blames me in mania. He just found a girl to sleep with and has this „amazing” life full of energy, smokes, taking a mortgage and being unstopable. In the meantime I’m here taking care of our 7month old baby girl. I know he will come back in depression again. I swear to god that this time he made so much harm to me and the baby that I will never come back. It’s just impossible to forgive everything he’ve done even if I know that he is clearly symptomatic. I pray for getting strong this time to end it and get my life back. I deserve better than that.

My partner struggled being with someone who wasn't going to get "better" with time and I wasn't getting help, so we divorced. Five years later we got back together as she realized she was not responsible to "fix" me. I was getting help and making efforts to be better and that was good for her. We've been back together for 5 years since then.

20 years married to my Bipolar wife this month!!! ❤🎉 We’ve been through so much but I’ve worked hard to better understand the cycles, the triggers & what I can do to NOT to make it worse.

Yes, it would have been easier not married to a bipolar spouse. It also would have been easier to never have grown as a husband & father.

It’s been a journey of discovery for both of us, and one I wouldn’t trade for all the money in the world.

Hang in there folks, fight the good fight, Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I'm literally just playing this everyday to cope with my wife's current mania where she's left, wants divorce, and has barely seen our kids over the last month

I am not bipolar, but my husband is. He is an "unmedicated BPD" and I can't live with his instability anymore.

My sibling is bipolar. The irresponsibility, unaccountability , unreliability, entitlement, is jarring. I think some people use their diagnosis as a crutch, a shield, and a sorry excuse. Just because someone has a mental illness doesn’t mean they get a pass to be an a$$hole especially to those they owe

That “separate the person from the illness” is GOLD. Not only in the context of significant other relationships.

It can be hard to remember that the bi polar person cannot always control what they’re doing.

It can be hard on the non polar person. At some point,we hit the end of our rope and cannot deal with the mental and physical exhaustion.

Sometimes the spouse/partner has to break up with the bi polar person, because the mood swings and depressive episodes an absolutely kill our own mental health.

Being a partner to a bi polar person can be absolutely difficult.

I divorced my bipolar I husband after 15-16 years of marriage because he used it as an excuse to abuse. The children needed to be protected. They are grown now, and some are bipolar II. They don't use bipolar as an excuse to abuse like he did. But they are still scarred for life because i couldn't get us out of it soon enough.
