Which Roguelike/lite would you recommend checking out?

I think part of it is they're just a video game. They aren't trying to be these like cinematic masterpieces with hours and hours of cutscenes. Just get in and play game

I think my biggest roadblock with other games is that feeling of "now i need to play this over the next 3 months, otherwise i can't catch up with the story after a break"

What i like about Roguelikes is that you don't have to commit 60+ hours into a new project. And it never feels drawn out as each run takes only a few hours (depending on the game ofc) and you can simply not play another run anytime

Roguelites are just, for better or worse, the most honest genre with what they're about. Pure gameplay and replayability.
From Hades and StS, like you say, to the nicher ones that deserve way more love - point in case, Galactic Glitch that released this summer and is on par with Dead Cells, just my humble take - give you a pure no-fluff, no-nonsense fun for the whole mileage you run them. They're the essence of "gamey".

I'm not super into roguelikes but a game that managed to get my attention is BPM: Bullets Per Minute.
It's a FPS where you shoot, dodge and reload at the beat of the music. And the controls and gameplay are what keeps me coming back.
The best thing is, if you don't like the soundtrack, you can apply your own music. So it elevates this game even more when you can slay enemies at the beat of Doom music.

If the gameplay loop is fun , variety is plenty, and progression is deep/meaningful , these games are super addicting.
But if even ONE of the them gets wrong, then the game becomes super boring and instant drop.

Unlocking new things in games used to be common but I feel like it's used less and less in favor of microtransactions....I feel like most rougelikes have new unlocks every time I play and when there is actual dlc available it feels more like a substantial expansion to the game. Also indies have been killing it vs AAA games and the replayability....also if I have 30 minutes to play or wanna play 6 hours straight I get a good experience...so many reason to love rougelikes....good prices too....also the rougelike core can go so fucking well with any base genere you got....if I could program I bet I could put out a hit. Lol

What an awesome video, really enjoyed it from beginning to end. Great job man!

Shoutout to two roguelike games that are fairly unique, are incredible on their own and weren't mentioned in the video: Outer Wilds and Blue Prince. I almost typed in Returnal which is also amazing, but it was mentioned in the 2nd half of the vid.

Damm bro this was an AMAZING video. I can see the Nickey Jackie inspirations and you also added your personality (and fart jokes.). Keep up the good work! You know you deserve more
