  One of these is coming into my mechanics shop next Monday. I own an '07 S197 V8 and can't wait to see this one. I grew up with these cars and a real good friend of mine has one. He got it new and still has it. Beautiful car. Where I live now is full of Mustangs, Chargers & Challengers, many are just 6 bangers. There are some fast V8's, though. The State Police & City all drive Chargers and the Sheriffs drive big block Fords. My Mustang is 18 y/o and still looks like new but, it's not stock anymore.  😎 I'm 70 so, I've been around these cars for a long time.

  Thank you so much for this video about the BOSS 429 Mustang.  In the 70s I was fortunate enough to own a 1970 BOSS 429 Mustang and it is still my all time favorite car. One thing I had to say was about the head gasket set up. It was not the dream set up that this video implies. A friend and I had Grabber green cars and were the only two known cars in 78 in Glendale, CA. Both our cars leaked oil out the back heads. He tried gluing sponges to the rear heads and I worked with the local Lincoln Mercury dealer to try and fix the problem but nothing we tried worked. We sold our cars in 1978 and I regret that to this day. My first new car was a 1969 MACH 1With a 428 CJ Ram Air engine. I know that the 428 was a little quicker in the qtr. mile than the Boss but that was because the 428 was a hoped up passenger car engine and the Boss was a detuned race engine detuned for the street.

  On the street cars had an intake that was squashed down in effect hampering its breathing.

  The first test cars had wrong valve springs,so the engine wasn’t performing like it should.

  It was at the end of 1973 NASCAR mandated that Cubic Inches would be reduced to 358 Max for 1974.<br>Not after the 1975 season like the video said.

  I worked for a Ford dealer in 1969. I bought KK 429 number 1820. I had issues with the valve guides wearing oval due to the side pressure the canted valves were in. Motor started smoking. Put the car into a local speed shop and neuralized the valve guides and it stopped smoking. While it was in the shop they removed all Fords taming of the motor. It was set up as close to the NASCAR version as we could get it. From that point on, I never lost a race in the &quot;A&quot; stock class at the drag strip on G60-15 tires. It was amazing at that time. Wish I still had it, but the Navy wanted me to go to the pacific. Nice memories !

  My all time favorite muscle car. This just makes me ❤ it that much more. The 375 HP rating was a insult. Try more like 550.
